Ralph Caraway Jr., a dedicated community leader and law enforcement professional, officially filed his candidacy today for the position of Smith County Constable Precinct 1. With a strong commitment to public safety and a proven track record of service, Caraway Jr. aims to bring his expertise and passion to the role, ensuring the well-being and security of the residents of Smith County.

Caraway Jr., a lifelong resident of Smith County, has built an impressive career in law enforcement, spanning for 18 years. His extensive includes an internship at the Smith County Sheriff's Office from 2003 to 2004. He then worked in various divisions within the Smith County Sheriff's Office, including the Jail Division from 2005 to 2007, the Patrol Division from 2007 to 2009, and the Criminal Investigation Division in 2009. From 2009 to 2013, he served in the Narcotics Division and also worked with the FBI HIDTA Task Force from 2011 to 2014. In 2013, he became a Patrol Sergeant and then transitioned to the Narcotics Sergeant role from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, was promoted to Jail Lieutenant and later became a Jail Captain from 2015 to 2018. Caraway then worked at the Smith County DA's Office from 2019 to 2022. Currently, he holds the position of Precinct One Constable.

Caraway Jr.'s deep understanding of the challenges faced by the county, combined with his unwavering commitment to justice, make him an ideal candidate for the position of Smith County Constable Precinct 1.

Throughout his career, Caraway Jr. has earned a reputation for his strong leadership skills, integrity, and ability to build meaningful relationships with community members. He firmly believes in the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community, as it is the key to maintaining a safe and thriving environment for all residents. If elected, Caraway Jr. plans to implement community-oriented policing strategies, fostering trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the public.

Ralph Caraway Jr., is a lifelong resident of Tyler, Texas. He is a graduate of John Tyler High School and Jarvis Christian College. He is currently enrolled at Liberty University in the Masters of Divinity Program. Caraway Jr. was appointed and sworn in as Interim Precinct 1 Constable on July 8, 2022. He took the oath of office on January 24, 2023 after being appointed by the Commissioners Court as Smith County Precinct 1 Constable. Caraway Jr. came to the office from the District Attorney’s Office, where he worked as an investigator since 2019. Prior to that he worked for the Sheriff’s Office from 2005-19. He started as a detention officer in the jail and worked his way up to Captain of Jail Operations. During his time at the Sheriff’s Office, he also served as Patrol Deputy, Criminal Investigations Division Detective, a member of the FBI High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force, Patrol Sergeant, Narcotics Sergeant and Jail Lieutenant.

He currently holds a Master Peace Officer License and a Jailers License. Caraway Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas where he has served for 5 years. Caraway Jr. is very involved in the community. He serves as Vice President for the Tyler Lions Football Organization and serves on Board of Directors for People Attempting to Help. He is a father and role model to three beautiful children, Anyia, Ashtyn, and Justyce.

DG Montalvo is a justice advocate, author, and creative. He’s a lifelong student of the Biblical prophets and their God-given vision for justice and shalom. DG loves to give his time and attention to a few important causes as well as stirring for moral revival or a revolution of values. He’s recently started blogging, has a few books in the works, and bought equipment for podcasting. Who knows what’s next?

DG is a first-generation Mexican Native American. Late in life, after 20yrs years of work in the design/advertising world, plus many varied positions in mega-churches & international NGOs, he earned a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Fuller is one of the world’s most influential evangelical institutions and the largest multidenominational seminary.

There he honed his research skills while studying The Mission of God and Justice.

DG lives with his beloved wife of almost 20 years, Jenny, in the heart of East Texas, Tyler, along with their two beagles, Chompsky & Chelsea.

He loves the adventure of the open road & stimulating conversation. But most of all, his grandkids Eli & Jude.
