Caucuses
East Texas Democratic Caucus. Its only goal is to increase the number of people voting Democratic in East Texas.
Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.
The Texas Democratic County Chair Association. TDCCA was organized to provide a unified support mechanism to all Democratic County chairs. Originally intended as a caucus to present a united front of county chairs in state party business, it has expanded its mission to include training and resources for county chairs across Texas utilizing the most efficient and effective means to do so.
Texas Stonewall Democrats. TSDC is a general-purpose political organization composed of passionate progressive members of the GLBTQ Community and straight allies. We promote civil rights and equality. We work with other Stonewall clubs across the state of Texas

Definitions
Ad hoc – Created or done for a particular purpose as necessary
Biennial – An event that occurs every two years, i.e., the Texas Democratic Party State Convention is a biennial event.
Canvassing – The process of receiving results of votes or elections.
CEC – County Executive Committee – Committee composed of elected Democratic Precinct Chairs, and Chairman from Smith County; and other individuals chosen by the CEC to aid and support as needed.
Ex-officio – Membership due to previous or pre-existing status or position
Liaise– The verb form of Liaison: to establish a working relationship, typically to cooperate on a matter of mutual concern.
Non-Statutory – A rule or action that is not legally required or defined but, rather, an agreed-upon operating procedure of the CEC or SCDP. Non-statutory events, meetings, etc., are fluid and can be changed.
Parliamentarian – Someone well versed in parliamentary procedure as set forth in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised.
Proxy – The authority to represent someone else, especially with regard to voting.
Quorum – The minimum number of members of an assembly/meeting that must be present to make the proceedings of that meeting valid.
RONR – Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, a manual that determines how business is conducted in deliberative assemblies. All meetings of TDP and the SCDP CEC are governed by RONR.
SCDP – Smith County Democratic Party – group composed of anyone residing in Smith County, Texas, who identifies themselves as a member of such, and who supports democracy and its principles.
Statutory – Action or actions required by the laws of the State of Texas, Texas Secretary of State, Texas Ethics Commission; or by TDP rules. Statutory requirements can only be changed by such regulating and legal bodies.
TDP – Texas Democratic Party – The governing body in the State of Texas tasked with defining and supporting democratic policies, candidates, elections, fund-raising, etc. in Texas.
